Tuina therapy in ancient times

Since we have been traveling a lot lately and sleeping in our car or camping in a tent, waking up cold and stiff, I am starting to understand the necessity for a therapy for maintenance especially to warm up the muscles and joints to get yourself going in the morning. Simply stretching will not do. Grasping the muscles and joints warms them up and performing moving  chi gong limbers the whole body. I can imagine in olden days where people slept on the floor or in rooms that were cold that these exercises were really important and necessary in order to function to survive.
